The regional power grid interconnects both to the national grid (maintained by Svenska kraftnät), and the local sub grid networks. The regional power grid is where electrical production plant's and major consumption facilities and heavy industries are connected. The actual voltage a company will be connected to is determined by electrical grid companies such as Vattenfall Eldistribution.
To get connected, please contact your local grid company in your local area and follow their directives whether a regional grid connection or local grid connection is needed.
They will guide you through the connection process.
The connection process
Go through the steps below to get a quick overview of the connection process. You can also download a more detailed version.
The connection process step by step
-
Request for new or extended connection
The process starts when you send in a request to Vattenfall Eldistribution for a new or extended connection. You can apply by using our form or by contacting your Vattenfall contact person. We will contact you and initiate an investigation for technical possibility to connect you to our grid.
-
Reservation Agreement
If you wish to proceed with your application after receiving notification of the technical connection possibility, your next step is to sign a Reservation Agreement with us.
The fee for the reservation is SEK 50,000 + SEK 1/kW for the applied capacity.
After paying the fee, you are allocated a place in our queue system for capacity. The reservation is project specific.
-
Estimated price and time for connection
We will provide you with a notification on estimated price and time for connection after a complete network investigation.
If measures in the overhead transmission grid are required, this notification cannot be provided to you until we have received information from the national TSO Svenska Kraftnät.
-
Planning Agreement
If you wish to proceed after receiving the notification the next step is to sign a Planning Agreement. We will plan for necessary measures in the regional network and apply for line concession if required.
Line concession and measures in the overhead grid has a large impact on time for connection.
-
Connection Agreement
When the planning is completed and we have received necessary permits e.g. line concession the next step is to sign a Connection Agreement. With that in place we will perform necessary measurements to connect you to the regional network.
You have to ensure that any permits required on your side are in place before we can start with the construction.
When signing the Connection Agreement your connection fee will be calculated according to our Application Provisions for connection and transmission on Vattenfall’s regional network.
-
Network and Facility Agreements
Before energizing the connection you need to sign a Network Agreement. The Network Agreement follows our Application Provisions for connection and transmission on Vattenfall’s regional network.
Prior to connection, you also need to sign a Facility Agreement. The agreement governs the obligations of the parties following connection regarding ownership boundaries.
-
Changes during the connection process
If you require changes concerning location of the connection point or capacity during the connection process, Vattenfall Eldistribution AB reserves the right to ask you to submit a completely new request. If a new request is required, the process starts again from the beginning.
